Paul Smeets
Since 2005, Paul Smeets has carried on the gallery’s tradition of passion and expertise in the Old Master paintings business. After graduating with highest honors in Modern History at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, he was granted a scholarship to further the studies of his dissertation, and completed his education and training by working in the Old Master Paintings Department at Sotheby’s in London.
He was appointed to TEFAF Board of Trustees in 2017. As of June 2018 he is Chair of Paintings for TEFAF Maastricht and also an Executive Committee member.

Ludovica Simone
Ludovica graduated with Highest Honours in Art History from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan. She then earned a Master’s degree with Highest Honours at Ca’ Foscari University, Venice, with a thesis on Martin Schongauer and the dissemination of Northern designs in Italy—an area of research she further developed during her Master’s degree in History of Art, which she completed with Distinction at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London.She spent five years in the Old Master Paintings Department at Sotheby’s London, working in the Private Sales Division. She joined Rob Smeets Old Master Paintings in 2025.
