Alonso Cano on loan to the National Gallery, London

National Gallery, London
Room 30

Created by Alonso Cano for the church of San Alberto in Seville in the late 1620s, this remarkable Immaculate Conception once adorned the center of an altarpiece, above Christ Bearing the Cross and flanked by saints in devotion. Rediscovered by Rob Smeets Gallery in recent years, we are proud to admire it now on loan from a private collection at the National Gallery in London.
